The Requirements

To be a good fit for this opportunity you will have:
  • A Certified Public Accounting license.
  • A bachelor's degree in Accounting, ideally with an emphasis in taxation. A master's is preferred.
  • At least seven years of experience with accounting for income taxes under ASC 740 for larger SEC registrants, either as an employee of a public corporation or through public accounting client service. Quick question for you - click here
  • A strong understanding of federal income tax for corporations and partnerships, including:
    • Familiarity with tax provisioning.
    • The ability to identify issues and calculate Book / Tax differences.
  • Four to five years of experience managing people and functional areas, and the ability to train and coach others.
  • Excellent research skills (using CCH, RIA, BNA, etc.) and understanding of federal and state tax authorities.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills.

The Role

You will report to one of three Tax Directors and join a department that includes the Vice President of Tax, three other Managers, and a number of Senior and Staff Accountants. The Directors and Managers focus on different areas (compliance, provisioning, audits, etc.) and they draw from the Senior and Staff "pool" as necessary for activities and projects. With regard to managing the quarterly and annual tax provisions, you will:
  • Work with a Tax Director and a team of Senior and Staff Accountants in preparing the quarterly and annual tax provisions for Caesars Entertainment Corporation and its affiliated companies.
  • Assist other members of the Corporate Financial Reporting team with the quarterly and annual SEC filings and related matters.
  • Assume responsibility, along with a Tax Director, for preparing tax journal entries to be booked in the G/L system relating to federal, foreign and / or state tax provisions, as well as assisting in the maintenance and reconciliation of the tax accounts.
In managing the US federal and state tax compliance, you will:
  • Work with a Tax Director and a team of Senior and Staff Accountants in preparing consolidated federal income tax returns including forms 5471 and other foreign related filings, state income or franchise tax returns, and annual reports for states or cities.
  • Assume responsibility for preparing the quarterly federal and/or state estimated tax payments.
With regard to research and planning, you will:
  • Work with Tax Directors to determine the tax implications of events within the corporation and its affiliates.
  • Work with the Tax Directors to identify planning opportunities, develop strategies to address such opportunities, and then implement the strategies to achieve greater tax efficiency.
  • Attend external meetings, seminars, webcasts, etc. to increase / maintain your technical tax knowledge.
  • Attend internal meetings to increase / maintain your understanding of company procedures and their tax implications.
  • Participate in due diligence related to acquisitions, including identifying tax return filing requirements or issues to be considered in connection with such transactions.
Your activities around policies and procedures will include:
  • Assisting in documenting the Tax Department's compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley / 404.
  • Executing tax policies and working with personnel at Caesars' properties to ensure tax policies and procedures are being followed on specific tax matters.
  • Promoting and maintaining a cooperative relationship with other departments and divisions of the company to achieve organizational objectives and goals.
In the area of software installation, rollover and updates, you will:
  • Ensure that the tax returns and tax provisions are controlled and not subject to unauthorized alteration
  • Assist with the maintenance and updating of tax return and / or tax provision software as necessary (we use OneSource).
Your Tax staff development and training activities will include:
  • Supervising, developing, and managing the Income Tax Senior and Staff Accountants.
  • Identifying training opportunities for yourself and other members of the Tax Department for discussion with Tax Directors and VP of Tax.
